Understanding Before Treatment

I have always been fascinated by one question

What truly supports health and healing?

That question has guided every stage of my professional journey—from studying science and pursuing naturopathic medicine to caring for patients, teaching, writing, and continuing to learn every day.

Over the years, I have come to believe that meaningful healthcare begins not with a diagnosis, but with understanding.

Every person carries a unique story. Our biology, lifestyle, nutrition, emotional experiences, relationships, environment, and daily habits continually influence one another. When we take the time to understand these connections, we often discover opportunities for healing that extend far beyond addressing symptoms alone.

This philosophy continues to guide every aspect of my work.

My Journey

My interest in health began through a deep curiosity about the remarkable complexity of the human body and the intricate relationships that support health and well-being.

Before pursuing naturopathic medicine, I studied Applied Chemistry and Biology at Toronto Metropolitan University, where I developed a strong appreciation for scientific inquiry and the importance of understanding how different systems interact.

This path ultimately led me to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), where I completed my medical training as a Naturopathic Doctor.

Since beginning clinical practice in 2011, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of health concerns. More than a decade of practice has continually reinforced an important lesson: meaningful healing is rarely achieved by addressing a single symptom. It begins with understanding the relationships between the many factors that influence health and recognizing that every individual requires a personalized approach.

How I See Health

One of the most rewarding aspects of practicing medicine has been learning to recognize the patterns that connect different systems within the body.

Rather than viewing health concerns in isolation, I find it meaningful to explore how nutrition, sleep, lifestyle, stress, emotional well-being, physiology, and environment continually influence one another. These relationships often provide valuable insights that help guide a more comprehensive and individualized approach to care.

I don’t believe every person needs the same solution. I believe every person deserves to be understood before a solution is considered.

Beyond Clinical Practice

Although clinical practice remains at the heart of what I do, education has always been an equally important part of my professional life.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching future healthcare practitioners, delivering professional seminars, leading public workshops and community education programs, and helping patients better understand their own health through individualized education.

Whether I am teaching a classroom of students, speaking to a community audience, presenting at a seminar, or working one-on-one with a patient, my goal remains the same: to make complex health concepts understandable, practical, and meaningful so that people feel empowered to make informed decisions about their health.

My teaching experience has included academic instruction at the college level, professional education, public lectures, community workshops, and patient education—each reflecting my belief that understanding is one of the most powerful foundations of lasting health.

Writing has become a natural extension of this work, allowing me to continue these conversations beyond the classroom and the treatment room.

A Lifelong Commitment to Learning

One of the greatest privileges of this profession is that it never stops teaching me.

Healthcare continues to evolve, science continues to advance, and every patient brings a perspective that deepens my understanding.

I remain committed to lifelong learning—not only because it is essential to providing thoughtful patient care, but because curiosity has always been one of the driving forces behind my work.

The more I learn, the more I appreciate the remarkable complexity, resilience, and capacity for healing that exists within every individual.

It is a privilege to accompany individuals on their health journeys, whether through clinical care, education, writing, or public speaking.

My hope is that every person who leaves my office, attends one of my lectures, reads something I have written, or participates in one of my workshops walks away with a deeper understanding of their health—and greater confidence in their ability to make meaningful choices that support lasting well-being.

Healing begins with understanding.
